Quarantine with my family

When I arrived in Colombia, I thought that the coronavirus had not affected my family in a significant way. In my house everything was still normal, my brother was still studying as he normally does and my father continued with his same office work, but from home. My mom, on the other hand, has always been dedicated to us, so her activities did not change much. However, when I left home and went to visit my other relatives, I noticed the real consequences that the virus brought to the rest of my family. In this gallery I will show some of the adaptations to a new lifestyle that my relatives, especially the youngest ones, have had to make.

The family that decided to open the doors to my camera consists of 5 people, the father, the mother, two boys and a girl. Although due to the circumstances, they are now dedicated to very quiet activities, in this home the love for sports has always reigned. So, probably the biggest challenge for these parents has been to know how to adapt their children's lives to a lifestyle completely unknown to them until now.

It is increasingly common to see children playing on the computer or playing different board games. Their father is looking for ways to allow them to continue their training from home because he does not want them to be underperforming when soccer returns to his home.

A few months ago, it was unthinkable to see these sports enthusiasts playing chess or doing any other activity, since they lived all day long studying or training.

One of the positive changes during this quarantine is that the children have begun to practice new activities and develop new skills. In fact, these boys' father was a musician in his youth and now his sons have dusted off their old musical instruments.

The adults have had to figure out how to get money home. One of them is a taxi driver and after more than two months without work he had to adapt his car to start working with the necessary biosecurity measures.

In addition to working for money, the father has managed to keep his children's hair short. He contacted a sister hairdresser who had stopped working for safety and borrowed some of the tools needed to hairdress his children. Although it took him a few days and a few failed attempts, this man learned to hairdress his children, and his children learned to hairdress him, and some distant relatives now ask him to hairdress them as well.

The sons have all been involved in sports. However, just like her brothers, the daughter has had to adapt to a new lifestyle where she has started doing new activities and developing new skills. She does not like board games, so she has dedicated herself to reading literature and reviewing what she has learned this year at school because she does not want to have a low academic level when everything returns to normal. Her passion has always been sports, but above all, for her, there has always been study.

For many years the daughter, who is the eldest of three, has been doing special hairstyles for the women in the family, her specialty being braids. During the quarantine she didn't have many women to comb, so she decided to practice with her mother and even herself. Now, she has perfected her technique so much that she can make her own braids in less than 10 minutes.

In the family, football has always had an important place in their daily activities. Of course, it has remained and will continue to remain in the diary of this family that lives for sport. Meanwhile, the mother prefers to keep the ball hidden to keep the furniture and decorations in the house safe.
